This place closes down Lawrence Ave whenever their semi truck of live chickens comes with a delivery. It’s disgusting seeing them unload live animals while shutting down a major Chicago street during morning rush hour. The truck parked on California/Lawrence then had to slowly unload each bundle of chickens and drive them slowly on a forklift west to Washtenaw (more than two city blocks away) so they can access the alley where they unload the chickens for their most likely gross basement storage. It’s also disgusting seeing how many live animals they are actually storing in this residential building in Lincoln Square. Before I sew this truck today I always thought that this was a small business with a small number of chickens but now I see how disgusting and disturbing it is having a few thousand chickens brought to the city like this is. I don’t understand how a business like this has permits or licenses to operate here in this nature. I am contacting the alderman and the police and will pursue this issue. To hell with this criminal business venture and to hell with all the idiots buying live animals from them. This place should be shut down.

I ordered two hens to cut them as Ethiopian style and they gave me half part of the chicken for one of them. They weren’t even that busy to check my order. In addition, there is no first come first customer service. They give priority for the customers they know or speak the same language with them. Who ever read this comment, I would recommend to check what you order before you leave the store. I will not buy from them again.

Good place to get fresh chicken, many varieties and you can also get alive birds.

It's a butcher shop. Not a grocery store. So no high expectations. Good quality, price and service. You have to know exactly what and how you want it. They are not mind readers. Don't embarrass yourself and get frustrated with staff.

This place is old school real! My husband picks out the live chicken and within 15 minutes it's butchered and we are on our way. Being an immigrant this is the way he's used to buying meat, loves it. The workers are always friendly and place is clean. There is a smell but growing up with a dad who was a butcher--that smell is normal!

Very bad chicken (didn't feel fresh). Walmart forzen chicken tastes better than this.

Very eclectic group of patrons. The gentleman who runs the cash register is fluent in three languages and is super friendly. I'd never bought rabbit before and he was patient with me while I asked my questions. It was very affordable. Yes, they do butcher and process the rabbit for you while you wait. And you can ask for specific butchering, quartering, head on/off, etc. I'll be coming here for my rabbit needs in the future. Oh and yes, there's a bit of a smell, but that's no more than you could expect when there are live animals for sale and butcher. It's not overwhelming and you get used to it very quickly.

The chicken has a great taste, the place is pretty small it sure does smell like a poultry place but very intense smell on. If you are going on your first time be prepared you can’t expect a satisfying smell it’s obvious your not visiting a flower shop. I’m not giving it a five star because it can really use more sanitary space for all the animals

I was there only once and I have to wait for long time but other than that, their chickens are the best compared to others. The smelling was not appealing. They can use more sanitizer to keep the place smell better. I love their chickens but since I have to wait for too long I didn't go back their since.

The animals look sick and distressed. The energy feels bad and seedy. I would try another good spot. The barn smells better, more like roses compare to this place lol. They give you live chickens but, do bait and switch so, you get old meat submerged in water for hours. All I can say is, I don't like wrinkled old meat and, I don't like smelly sick meat. I just wasted hard working money when, I could've went to a grocery store instead. I will never go back ever!

Update: they are not on Sharia board anymore. I don’t know if they are halal anymore The best place I have seen for Zabihah halal chicken in all of US. Abbass was super helpful. Very quick service.

This place was closed and they recently opened. The place has been renovated and it looks nice and clean. They are following the rules and regulations for the Covid-19. Good customer services. I went there for chicken with my friends and they were satisfied

Okay place but preferable to had seen my chicken alive before they killed it. There's a place on Chicago Ave & Ashland ave. Where they weight the live chicken and kill it in front of you. Update: Aden poultry is currently closed by the city health department

Friendly staff and courtious service. Place is decently clean and meat is fresh. Chicken housing is better than one around Chicago area. Chicken seems healthy on chicken coop. I recommend for fresh chicken.

You feel like you're in another country once you're inside. They have live poultry that they will slaughter for you right there and then. You just get in line and order up. They have a board to pick from. Rabbit, quail, etc. Got my turkey from here. But the turkey was huge. I go back once in awhile, but there are people who must go back all the time. There was a line when I got there.

Good for live chicken and hard chicken..there is another kind.of chicken that is young hen..this is also good.we ordered white chicken small. This is also good.

Probably the best tasting chicken I’ve had. Highly recommend for making soups with their chickens, much better than traditional grocery store poultry.
