Farm History

Dutch Creek Farms was established in 1981 by Doug and Susan Schlosnagle, who transitioned from tobacco and hog farming to a diversified forage-based operation. The farm now focuses on pasture-based livestock, including 100% grass-fed beef, pastured poultry, and eggs.

Practices

The farm employs rotational grazing systems, rotating cattle through perennial grasses, clovers, winter and summer annuals, and brassicas. This method reduces parasite populations while maintaining animal health. All livestock receive natural forage diets, and the farm holds certifications from the American Grass-Fed Association (AGFA) and Animal Welfare Approved (AWA). Pastured hens have access to 200 square feet of land per bird, promoting healthy egg production.

Visiting the Farm

The restored 1882 farmhouse offers a historic stay with modern comforts, including gas-burning fireplaces, a front porch for viewing grazing cattle, and a backyard fire pit. The farmhouse is available for stays and includes outdoor dining areas with a grill.

Buying Options

Products can be purchased through the farm’s website, with local pickup or delivery available in Louisville. A Fall/Winter/Spring CSA program includes affordable payment plans for regular customers.
