Foppema’s Farm has been a cornerstone of Northbridge, Massachusetts, since 1983. It began when Ken Foppema left his job at a local orchard to start his own farming venture. The farm initially operated on 10 acres in Sutton, focusing on strawberries, sweet corn, tomatoes, squash, and cucumbers. Over the years, Foppema's Farm expanded to 75 acres, continuing to grow and diversify its crops.
The Ken Foppema family, with the help of a dedicated staff, operates this family-owned farm, producing a wide range of fruits and vegetables. Their offerings celebrate the seasons, starting with strawberries in mid-June. As the season progresses, they provide blueberries, raspberries, melons, peaches, plums, and apples from their orchards. On the vegetable side, they specialize in tomatoes, sweet corn, lettuce, beans, squash, peppers, and more. Notably, pumpkins, winter squash, and fresh-pressed cider enrich their fall offerings.
Beyond fresh produce, Foppema’s Farm diversifies with gourmet products. They offer Golden Barrel Blackstrap Molasses, praised for its high iron content and versatility in recipes ranging from breads to beverages. Gourmet oils from Lesley Elizabeth, Inc., available in four flavors, and handcrafted food slabs add unique touches to anyone's pantry. Additionally, Foppema’s Farm stocks multi-seed gluten-free crackers and coconut oil, catering to various culinary preferences.
Foppema's Farm is open June through October, Monday to Saturday, welcoming visitors to their picturesque post and beam farmstand built in 1998. Besides picking strawberries themselves, customers can explore a dynamic mix of tried-and-true crops and newly introduced varieties like kohlrabi and Japanese eggplant.
Customers can find Foppema’s Farm at the Copley Square Farmers Market in Boston on Tuesdays and Fridays, and at the Natick Common market on Saturdays. These markets allow a broader community to enjoy the farm’s fresh, locally-grown produce.
Known for their commitment to quality and community, Foppema's Farm offers a genuine connection to local agriculture. Whether shopping in person or at farmers markets, customers remain at the heart of their operations—embracing new tastes, supporting a family farm, and valuing 'Locally Grown' produce.
