Heritage and History

Forest Garden Farm is deeply rooted in the legacy of the Fujioka family, who began farming on Vashon Island after emigrating from Japan in the early 1900s. Initially recognized for their superior strawberry yields, the Fujiokas have been stewards of this land through historical challenges and economic shifts. The family's agricultural journey reached a pivotal moment following their return from WWII, when they reclaimed and developed the farm on the current 23.9-acre property.

Farming Practices

True to its name, Forest Garden Farm integrates regenerative agriculture with forest restoration. The farm is WSDA and Real Organic certified, adhering to organic farming principles. Practices like no-till permanent growing beds, regular soil testing, and the use of cover crops help in maintaining soil health. The farm also employs solar panels and other sustainable technologies to minimize its environmental impact.

Community Engagement and Sustainability
